A Southern Right whale and her new born calf have been sighted in the Bay over the last few days and would appear to be resting before heading south again. The calf is very small and was possibly born only days ago in the sheltered waters of the bay.
We would expect to see more southern right whales over august before the southern migration of humback whales begins off Jervis Bay in September.

Over two days aprox 11 humback whales were seen cruising past Wreck bay, at one stage coming within 50 yards of the surfers. In the classy condition of the day thay made an impressive site with all the surfers ignoring the incoming waves to watch their antics. awesome!
